Nov 2010 - Milestone month for CIE
Earlier this month (Hansard 2 November) the Secretary of State for Transport, Mike Penning MP, was asked when he plans to lay the regulations for continuous insurance enforcement before Parliament. Mr Penning confirmed that the regulatory proposals were being considered by the coalition Government's Reducing Regulation Cabinet Subcommittee and that the aim was to lay regulations during November.
Nov 2010 - CIE will be legally ratified
The laying of regulations marks a major milestone for CIE and means that the offence of being the registered keeper of a vehicle which is not insured has been legally ratified. For the industry this milestone draws a line in the sand in terms of taking steps to be ready for the public launch of CIE early in 2011 - and issue of the first insurance advisory letters in April.
