Martin Devaney

Senior Client Risk Manager, Liability

Martin joined QBE in 2012 and has over 20 years experience in the risk management and insurance arena. Martin started his career in Local Government where he was a Risk and Insurance Manager for a number of large Public Entities. He has also worked as a risk consultant for a global risk and insurance consultancy and more recently as a senior risk manager for an international insurance company.

Martin holds a first class honours and Masters degree in safety, health and environment risk management and a Masters Degree in Law. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management, a Chartered Member of the Institution of Safety and Health and a Member of the Business Continuity Institute. Martin specialises in claims defensibility and helping businesses reduce their overall cost of risk.

Philip Bladon

Senior Client Risk Manager, Liability

Phil joined QBE in 2003 bringing over 15 years of practical and managerial experience in the mining and the metals industries together with 10 years in the insurance sector where he has specialised in liability risk management, primarily in high-hazard industries.

Phil is a European Engineer, Chartered Mining Engineer, Chartered Member of IOSH and a Chartered Safety Practitioner

Jon Lawrence

Client Risk Manager

Jon Lawrence joined QBE in 2001 and has over 20 years experience within the insurance industry primarily in the field of liability risk management. Jon specialises in health and safety management systems and assists clients to reduce their risk exposures and to mitigate potential losses. Jon takes a keen interest in the area of slips, trips and falls and has contributed to publications and represents the insurance industry on HSE stakeholder groups.

Jon is a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner and member of IOSH.

Mark Black

Client Risk Manager

Mark joined QBE in 1998 serving 6 years as a claims inspector before joining the Risk Management team in 2004. Still a young lad, Mark has 12 years of Insurance Industry experience serving major clients, and specialises in liability claims and risk management.

Mark holds an honours degree in Risk Management and the Nebosh National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. He is a Graduate Member of IOSH, a Member of the Institute of Risk Management and a Member of the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management.

Michael Barraclough

Client Risk Manager

Mike joined QBE in 1998 as a Claims Inspector before joining the Risk Management team in 2007. He has over 25 year’s insurance industry experience.

Mike holds the Nebosh National Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, is a Graduate Member of IOSH and a Member of International Institute of Risk & Safety Management.

Melanie Sturgeon

Client Risk Manager

Melanie joined QBE in 2006 bringing over 5 years of management and health and safety consultancy experience, predominantly in the facility management and construction sectors.

Melanie holds the Nebosh National Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, is a Graduate Member of IOSH and a Member of the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management.

Paul Tacey

Client Risk Manager

Paul joined QBE in 2011 bringing over 10 years of management and health and safety experience at global organisations, predominantly in the Logistics and Manufacturing sectors.

Paul specialises in developing online safety management systems and risk profiling.

Paul holds an honours degree in Business Management and the Nebosh National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. He is a Graduate Member of IOSH and a Member of the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management.
